Food and Beverage Manager

Job Description

 

Jump Inn Budget Accommodation is looking for an experienced food and beverage manager to run our onsite bar/restaurant. This position is on a full-time basis with a salary of AUD 65,000 – AUD 70,000 per annum plus superannuation.

 

You will be required to do the following duties:

  • Manage the business aspects of the bar, such as keeping a current liquor license, negotiating supplier contracts, taking inventory and reordering supplies, managing budgets, and setting goals.

  • Hiring and training staff to provide excellent service to patrons.

  • Research and learn about the craft beers we stock and relay this information to staff

  • Creating effective schedules and quickly resolving conflicts to ensure that bar is well staffed during peak hours.

  • Setting and enforcing quality and safety controls.

  • Ensuring licenses are updated and in line with current legislation.

  • Review sales and beverage costs and reconcile any discrepancies in accounting. Ensure proper cash management.

  • Working with diverse personalities both on the staff and patrons.

  • Mix drinks, pour and serve wine, beer, and other beverages as needed.

  • Planning and taking part in promotional events.

  • Address customer inquiries and complaints.

  • Diffusing tense situations between patrons or staff members to prevent possible safety or legal issues, ejecting unruly persons, if needed.

  • Maintaining a fun, safe atmosphere for patrons.

 

To be considered for this role you should:

  • Be proficient with point-of-sale software.

  • Be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Can work independently, as well as lead, manage, and motivate a team.

  • A willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and stay cool under pressure.

  • Have analytical skills and a solid understanding of accounting principles, business and personal management practices and strategies.

  • Have 5+ years of experience working in as a bartender, server, or manager in a restaurant environment.

  • Have a proven track record of providing excellent customer service.

  • The ability to diffuse tense situations and resolve conflicts

  • Be physically able to stand and move during the length of shift; able to bend and kneel through shift; able to carry 25 or more pounds of supplies.
